Breeze, Air, and Bye, Bye Jeff

Spirited Away on a Summer Breeze

It was an awesome weekend of live music at recordBar, starting with the always entertaining Summer Breeze playing hit "yacht rock" from the 70's and 80's. They packed the house to sold out numbers, heating the place up with groovin' bodies.

Dressed for sailing in style, many of the crew members (patrons), rocked out with blazers and skipper caps. I literally got asked for "permission to come aboard." Can't wait to have these guys back again!

Mind-Blowing DramAIRturgy

The excitement continued on Saturday with a whirlwind display of air stage prowess. The US Air Guitar Championships at recordBar delivered straight-line entertainment to KC's mock-musician fan base. Tear away pants, flying sombreros, caffeinated beer and you name it, it probably happened. KCMO contestant CindAIRella took top spot in the Midwest to move on and a shot at the world finals in Finland.

It was absolutely ridiculous, completely insane and undoubtedly awesome.

Bye, Bye Jeff...

And in closing all of us at recordBar want to wish Jeff Simon a fond farewell as he heads towards new adventures in a new place. His stoic beard, brute-like presence and impeccable taste in neutral plaid button-ups will be sorely missed.

Jeff rocked the bar here and at miniBar with style, deadpan humor and reasonable taste in film. In synchronistic (and hilarious) fashion, on Jeff's last night the US Air Guitar finale invited everyone up to air jam to none other than "Freebird."

"If I leave here tomorrow..." Appropriate, poetic and slightly sad. Don't worry, Jeff, you've got that year and a half clause before we even start to forget you.
